LOCAL RACES (AND OTHER EVENTS)

The best source of information on local events that I have found is at the Toronto Bicycling Network website. TBN has an active inline section. TBN has done an outstanding job with the skating portion of the website in addition to organizing lots of events of varying difficulty –to suit all ability levels. Non-TBN members are allowed to participate for a small fee. I have participated in a couple of “Martha’s Marathons” and really enjoyed them. Check out TBN at http://tbn.ca/inline/

Another good source of information about the inline scene in Toronto is through a chat group called Toronto-Blading (hosted by Anthony Morris). Info on most local events is posted. Check out Toronto-Blading at http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/toronto-blading/

The Toronto Inline Skating Club sometimes hosts races for serious skaters (and those hoping to be serious). Toronto Inline Skating Club

The Toronto Trailbladers is a local group of enthusiastic trail skaters. They have lots of events, lessons etc. Toronto Trailbladers

A fantastic ‘race’ that I highly recommend is the Northshore Marathon in Duluth Minn. It's the biggest and best race in North America and is not just for skaters who want to break the sound barrier. Northshore Marathon
